Компанія Intel представила прототип розумних очок доповненої реальності Vaunt, які проектують зображення прямо на сітківку очей.
Лазер, який проектує зображення, вбудований прямо в оправу і непомітний для оточуючих. Пристрій споживає дуже мало енергії і тому може працювати без підзарядки до 18 годин.
Смарт-окуляри Intel Vaunt виглядають майже як звичайні окуляри в пластиковій оправі. При цьому вони легше 50 грамів, включаючи лінзи, акумулятор, процесор, Bluetooth-чіп, компас, акселерометр і проектор. Це злегка більше ваги звичайних окулярів, але помітно менше ніж, наприклад, Google Glass.
Натомість у них не передбачено ряд функцій Google Glass, відсутні динамік і камера. За зображення відповідає малопотужний лазерний монохромний проектор, що видає 400х150 пікселів червоного кольору на голографічний рефлектор, розміщений на правій лінзі окулярів, потім зображення відбивається прямо в око користувача. Відзначається, що завдяки малій потужності система нешкідлива для очей.
Зовні окуляри майже не відрізняються від звичайних очок для слабозорих людей, що має припасти до смаку споживачам.
Intel планує надати окуляри розробникам до кінця 2018 року.
